Perth-Andover Village Council and the Perth-Andover Recreation Commission will meet to discuss future renovations to Veteran’s Field, the municipal ball diamond located in Perth, council decided at their July 14 meeting.

Jason Walsh, recreation director, advised council the recreation commission would like to see planned capital improvement funding for the swimming pool complex be spent on the ball diamond.

"The recreation commission would like to pursue upgrading Veteran's Field in Perth to a full-size baseball diamond. There has been a motion put forth by the commission to pursue this venture.

The motion states …. that the capital monies earmarked for improvements to the pool building be used for the development and renovations for a full size baseball field at Veteran's Field…. motion carried."

Walsh concluded the letter by stating the recreation commission would like to see the capital improvements completed by the spring of 2009.

The recreation commission provided no cost estimate on the upgrade.

Councillors decided to arrange a meeting with the recreation commission to discuss the issue.
