GF skaters meet Jeff Buttle

Brittany Rioux and Janik Thériault had an opportunity to meet Buttle, three-time Canadian Champion, 2006 Olympic Bronze Medalist, and currently the World Men's Figure Skating Champion. The international star worked with 58 athletes from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, while his coach, Lee Barkell, led the three-day seminar.
The athletes worked on various aspects of their skating, including jumps, spins and stroking with both Buttle and Barkell. They also received instruction in ballet and hip hop from Suzanne Bourque, Academy of Classical Ballet, and off-ice conditioning with Francois Gazzano.
Both skaters and parents were given the opportunity to ask Buttle and Barkell questions.
Cynthia Benson, International Skating Union Judge and Skate/Patinage Canada New Nouveau-Brunswick Competitive Skating Programs Chair, who was instrumental in organizing the Seminar, stated: "The skaters could not have a better role model to learn from. Skate New Brunswick is very fortunate that Jeff took the time out of his hectic schedule to work with up and coming skaters."
