NB's best senior teams will be at RVCC April 2-6

Victoria County hockey fans will find a lot to cheer about next week when the top senior teams in New Brunswick will descend on the River Valley Civic Centre in Perth-Andover for a week of Provincial Senior Hockey Playoffs.
The River Valley Thunder under head coach Troy Barr will be hosting the event, a first for Perth-Andover. In the first game of the provincials the Thunder will play the Grand Falls Cataracts, first place finishers in the Thunder's Roger Lizotte Senior Hockey League. The two teams will face off at 8:30 pm, Wednesday, April 2.
Jeff Barclay, Manager, Secretary, and ‘jack of all trades' of the Thunder, said in a Monday morning interview that fans will be able to see some top-notch hockey as the Thunder and four league champion teams meet to decide the best team in the province.
"We should have really, really good hockey for the Senior Provincials," he said. "It's taken a lot of work; it's a big undertaking but it's something that doesn't come around too often so when you do get a chance to host it, it's a good thing for sure. I hope we get support from all of our fans as well as hockey fans in general, and people support businesses in town while they're here. It should be a real busy week for the businesses in town and the rink in general." At press time some league champions hadn't been decided, but the number one teams in the Southern Senior League, the Memramcook Valley, and the North Shore League will meet Grand Falls and the Thunder to determine the provincial champion of the New Brunswick Senior "A" leagues.
On Thursday, April 3 the Southern League winner meets the North Shore League winner at 5:30 p.m. and Grand Falls meets the Memramcook League winner at 9 p.m. On Friday, April 4, the Memramcook League winner meets the Southern League winner at 5:30 p.m. and the River Valley Thunder, in their second game, play the North Shore League winner at 9 p.m.
Saturday, April 5, will see the semi-final games, and the Championship game of the Molson sponsored event will take place Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m. in the River Valley Civic Centre.
