Three charges

Appearing before Grand Falls provincial court Judge George Pérusse on Tuesday, March 18, Anthony J. Saulis, 35, pleaded guilty to charges of uttering a threat to cause death or serious bodily harm to John Roland Perley on Jan. 9 at Tobique First Nation, prowling at night on Perley's property and committing mischief by wilfully damaging Perley's door. A pre-sentence report and a victim impact statement will be prepared prior to Saulis' sentencing on May 5.

Pleads guilty

Shawn Thériault, 21, pleaded guilty to charges of illegal possession of tobacco and cannabis marijuana on July 31, 2007 in Drummond as well as failing to appear in provincial court on Feb. 19. "On July 31, RCMP received a call that the accused was growing marijuana in his home," stated federal Crown prosecutor Pat Murchison.

"On that day, RCMP arrived at his mother's home where she gave police written permission to search her residence. "

"Her son was living in the basement. Police found three small marijuana plants as well as dry marijuana. All of it totalled approximately 34.5 grams. Police also discovered six bags containing 200 cigarettes."

On the charge of the possession of marijuana and tobacco, Thériault was fined $500 and $1,000 respectively. For failing to appear in court, he was fined $300. Thériault was granted until June 30 to pay all of the fines.

Youth court

A teenager will return to Grand Falls youth court on May 29 for her trial on two charges. The youth, who was charged on March 18 when she appeared before Judge George Pérusse, faces a charge of assault and uttering a threat to cause serious bodily harm. Both charges stem from an incident which occurred on Oct. 11, 2007 in Perth-Andover.

Not the same

An SPCA charge of failing to provide adequate shelter and care to two adult cats, three dogs and three pups in Carlingford on Jan. 10 was laid against Linda Smith of 6 Gambling Road, Carlingford and not Linda F. Smith who lives on Turner Road in Carlingford.
