It was a busy weekend for Woodstock-based Western Valley minor baseball squads, as both the mosquito AA team and the pee wee AA formations hit the diamond for key league games.
On Friday in Woodstock, the Western Valley Home Zone AA Mosquito Red Sox defeated the Fredericton Red Sox 13-4 in league play to remain undefeated on the regular season with a 6 and 0 record.

Corey Dickinson had four hits for the victors, including three RBIs, while Brad Sappier notched two RBIs on his single and double.
"I feel our team is improving defensively each week," said coach Blaine Tompkins. "Tonight, the guys were very good at backing up the bases and Alex (Everett) and Corey (Dickinson) were particularly strong on defense."
The Red Sox will be back in league play on Friday, July 18 at home versus the Oromocto Pioneers. Start time is 6:30 p.m.
As for the Western Valley All Seasons AA Pee Wee side, they brushed off the dust from a two-week layoff and traveled to Saint John to take on the AAA Storm in a Saturday doubleheader, losing both ends of the back-to-back by counts of 13-1 and 8-3.
