Christmas Cheer will help needy families
Published Wednesday October 8th, 2008

Dear editor,
It is "Christmas Cheer" time once again. Applications for families needing help in the Perth-Andover area can be picked up at the Perth-Andover Post Office any time after Nov. 3.
And for those readers who would like to help make Christmas a bit brighter for someone else, please note the following. If you want to make a monetary donation, please give it to one of the committee members or mail it to "Christmas Cheer General Delivery, Perth-Andover, NB E7H 5V3." Income tax receipts will be issued for all money received. If you wish to donate clothes, we would ask that you give new clothes only. Should you, your family and/or a group wish to sponsor a family and purchase the gifts for that family yourselves, please call Sharon for sizes and other pertinent information.
This year, the committee is asking for a different form of assistance from the communities served by our Christmas Cheer Program. We are going to need approximately 200 medium sized turkeys. With Thanksgiving fast approaching, these could be purchased on sale and donated to Christmas Cheer. Thanks to the generosity of the public, we now have space to freeze and/or store these turkeys. They can be given to any committee member any time between now and Dec. 12. If you present your sales slip when you donate a turkey, a receipt will be issued for income tax purposes.
We hope that the community will continue to demonstrate the same wonderful generosity that has been shown in the past and, with your assistance, we look forward to making Christmas a little brighter for the needy families of the Perth-Andover area.
