
Turnaround awards to be presented May 21


They have turned their young lives around and will now be acknowledged by their educators, parents and community leaders for their efforts. The seventh annual Turnaround Achievement awards ceremony for School District 14 will be held at the New Brunswick Community College in Woodstock on May 21.
"Twenty-eight students from School District 14 will be recognized for the efforts, commitment and perseverance they have shown in turning their lives around. The turnaround program provides the opporuntity to give these youth renewed self-esteem, the courage to face failure and a desire to succeed," the event invitation stated. "We expect over 300 people to be in attendance including recipients and their guests, municipal, provincial and federal dignitaries as well as corporate guests and school officials."
Northern Carleton and Victoria County recipients include
Tyberius Pirie, Andover Elementary School, grade five; Megan Acheson, Bath Middle School, grade eight; Angel Williamson, Bristol Elementary School, grade five; Jeffrey Watson, Carleton North High School, grade 12; Mateo Bowmaster, Centreville Community School, grade five; Sierra DeMerchant Centreville Community School, grade eight; Kevin Le, Florenceville Elementary School, grade four; Zoe Taylor, Florenceville Middle School, grade eight;
Michael Warman, John Caldwell School, grade 12; Stephen Perley, Perth-Andover Middle School, grade seven; Adam Delong, Southern Victoria High School, grade 12; Mathew Francoeur, Tobique Valley High School, grade 10.
