Perth-Andover forms lobby committee
Published Wednesday August 6th, 2008

Perth-Andover's new mayor has changed the village council departments and committees to give the village a more effective voice in dealing with other governments, Mayor Rick Beaulieu told the Victoria Star at a recent council meeting.
Mayor Beaulieu, Deputy Mayor Karen Titus and Coun. Dr. Carter Kennedy are the members of the new lobby committee to handle issues that affect the village.
"We want to organize a lobby committee to handle any issues that affect the municipality. The lobby committee could lobby any level of government," the mayor stated.
The new finance and special projects committee will now handle the day to day budget and anything financial "not in the realm of the day to day operations," Mayor Beaulieu commented. Coun. Dave Morgan and Coun. Kennedy are the councillors assigned to that committee.
"The sidewalk now being considered for the Perth side of the village would be an example of a special project," the mayor stated.
The new policy and bylaw committee will be the responsibility of Coun. Tom Dixon and Coun. Rochelle Pelletier.
The new committee duties will be addition to numerous other standing committees. Mayor Beaulieu's other responsibilities include Economic Development (Recruitment), Staff Relations, Public Relations, and Protective Services.
Deputy Mayor Titus' duties include the Perth-Andover Recreation Commission, Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick (UMNB), and Planning and Advisory Commission.
Coun. Kennedy will represent the village on Community Relations (Schools, Library, Hospital) and Staff Relations.
Coun. Morgan will be the village voice on the Perth-Andover Electric Light Commission and the woodlot committee.
Coun. Dixon will head up the Economic Development (Tourism), and Public Works/Water Commission.
Coun. Pelletier's duties include the Valley Solid Waste Commission, Beautification, Museum, and Business Forum.
