Dear editor:

My name is Melynda Jarratt and I am writing a volume on New Brunswick War Brides for the NB Military Heritage Book Series of UNB’s Gregg Centre for the Study of War and Society.

The book will be printed by Goose Lane Editions for release in the fall so I would like to make contact with as many NB War Brides or their family members as I can over the course of the next six to eight weeks. I invite them to phone, write or email me using the contact information below.

I am particularly interested in the experiences of women who came to rural New Brunswick as well as those who ended up in French-speaking families in the northern part of the province, on the Acadian Peninsula and the Moncton area. I would also like to speak to Dutch and Belgian War Brides and to women who married into the Aboriginal community. If you are the husband, son or daughter of a War Bride who has passed away and you think you have a compelling story to tell about her experience, I would like to hear from you as well.

While the focus of this publication is World War Two, I intend to include WWI War Brides as well, so if you are a descendent of one of these ladies you are encouraged to participate.

I can be reached in Fredericton at 450-4567, toll free at 1-877-886-2836, by mail or email at: Melynda Jarratt, PO Box 482, Station A, Fredericton, NB. E3B 4Z9 Email: melynda@canadianwarbrides.com
