Reading Rainbow: All preschoolers interested in a weekly program that includes stories, songs, games, crafts and laughs are invited to the library on Fridays at 10:30 in the morning! Remember, an adult must accompany children. On May 9 we will be celebrating Mother's Day by reading the story Happy Mother's Day by Deborah Hautzig and making a special surprise craft for mom - shhh! Our math is 0 5=5 and our second word is cat. We will make coloured celery for our science experiment!

Babies in the Library: For the month of May we will meet from 2:30 to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays to do rhyming, talking, finger plays, and stories. This program runs for four sessions, but I would be interested in having a bi-weekly session during the school year. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, May 7.

Art Classes with Veronica Steeves: we will be hosting an eight-week art class series about the dynamics of drawing for people of all ages and abilities on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. beginning June 5. The cost is $4 per person per class. Registration is necessary and a supply list will be provided. Supply kits can also be provided at a cost if requested. Please contact the library at 273-2843 to register.

Hackmatack: The winners of the Hackmatack Children's Choice Book Award 2008 were announced at a ceremony on Friday, April 25 at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton. The winner for English fiction was Julie Lawson for No Safe Harbour: The Halifax Explosion Diary of Charlotte Blackburn. Kathy Kacer received the English nonfiction award for Hiding Edith. The winner of the French fiction category was Denis Boucher for Le monstre du Lac Baker and Melvin Gallant received the award in French non-fiction for Ti-Jean-le-Rusé.
