WINDSOR, Ont. - A 49-year-old Windsor, Ont., woman has been sentenced to two years probation for failing to bury her mother's body.

Police were called to a Windsor apartment in May to investigate a bad odour coming from within.

It turned out to be the corpse of 78-year-old Dorothy Brezecky, who had been dead for a couple of months.

Nancy Brezecky pleaded guilty in July to neglect of burial of a human body and careless storage of a firearm.

Court was told the accused led a very isolated life, and her lawyer claimed she didn't know what to do after her mother's death and was concerned about being able to pay for a funeral.

During sentencing, Justice Micheline Rawlins told Brezecky it's good for her to move on and out into the rest of the world.
