Russian supply ship docks at the International Space Station

MOSCOW - Russian Mission Control says an unmanned Russian cargo ship has docked at the International Space Station, delivering tonnes of supplies, equipment and gifts for its crew.

Mission Control spokesman Valery Lyndin says the Progress M-65 had a trouble-free automatic docking with the station at 10:43 p.m. Moscow time.

The ship blasted off last Wednesday atop a Soyuz-U booster rocket from Kazakhstan.

It was initially supposed to dock at the station two days after the launch, but the mooring was postponed when NASA temporarily closed the Johnson Space Center because of hurricane Ike.

The ship delivered just over two tonnes of oxygen, water and food for the crew - U.S. astronaut Gregory Chamitoff and Russian cosmonauts Sergei Volkov and Oleg Kononenko.
