This is your invitation to the annual Falls Brook Centre Fair in Knowlesville, New Brunswick. The Fair has become a Carleton county staple over the years, offering a showcase and celebration of rural living for people from near and far. Visitors will have the special opportunity to meet and talk with vendors and artisans about their trades, skills and finished goods.

The mix of fair booths will feature original works of locally made pottery, woodworking, knitting, handmade jewelry, locally spun Alpaca wool, and much, much more. Being a family weekend, a number of events and guests have been scheduled for children including tours of the Climate Change Bus, Perley the magician on Sunday, as well as games and crafts throughout the weekend.

For those looking to learn more about Falls Brook Centre's ongoing projects and efforts to demonstrate sustainable living practices, there will be workshops, information sessions and department coordinators on hand to meet with all the guests.

The project highlights include a workshop by solar power expert Dr. Richard Komp; tours of the wind, solar and other onsite renewable energy facilities; samplings of the organic gardens; a woodsmen competition; and value added forestry demonstrations.

There will also be a Forest Forum on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Guest speakers will include Dr Peggy Smith from Thunder Bay Community Forestry, and Mitch Lansky, Town Councilor from Wytopitlock, ME.

The fair is set to kick off this coming September 5, 6 and 7, opening Friday night at 7:30 with guest star appearances by East Coast talents Isaac & Blewett and Ross Neilsen. Tickets are $15 at the gate.

Last year, there were nearly a thousand attendees who took advantage of the organic food stalls, artisan booths, good live music and other activities throughout the jam packed weekend.

The Fair will continue Saturday and Sunday, September 7 from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $5 at the gate and children under 10 get in for free! Camping is $20 per night or a $75 weekend pass that includes two breakfasts, a delicious organic supper, camping and fair fees is also available.

John Best and Rod Macintosh lead the cornboil at the 2007 Falls Brook Centre Fair. With the continuation of the Food Miles Program, headed up by Agriculture coordinator Shannon Herbert, local organic food is sure to be a delicious theme at this year's fair.
