Local citizens as well as tourists now have an additional tool to help them in their quest to learn more about the history of Grand Falls.

The Town of Grand Falls recently launched its first-ever historial tour guide.

The 44-page booklet offers short versions of the historical sites and buildings, many of which still exist within the town’s limits. The tour proposes a visit of the historical and heritage sites, with pieces of evidence of the military presence, religious heritage and relics of past eras.

Items of interest such as Broadway Boulevard (one of the largest main streets east of Winnipeg), bridges (stone towers of the 2nd suspended bridge are still partially visible), hotels and motels, cemeteries (including the Assumption cemetery where the graves of many Grand Falls pioneers are located), heritage homes (many of which still exist throughout the towntown core), churches, etc. have a short description as well as photos throughout the guide.

The booklet was produced by the La Vallée District Planning Commission, at the request of the Town, and was made possible thanks to the participation of the Province of New Brunswick, Canada’s Historic Parks, the Grand Falls Central Business Development Corporation Inc., the Grand Falls, Drummond and St.

André Chamber of Commerce and the Falls and Gorge Commission Inc.
